It started operating in the broad field between the energy = of punk and alternative rock, the soundscape and songwriting of modern indie- rock, the credibility of underground wave, the purity of 80's electro and t= he lyrics of bittersweet pop music. By introducing this combination on their 2= 006 debut "THE LAST GOODBYE IS NOT ALWAYS THE END" they created their own genre: "Depressive Pop". Songwriter and mastermind Robert Nouve, who also works as lyricist, novelist and DJ, caused heavy irritation by abandoning each gig of an indie-club tour after the first two verses of the opening track "Swan Song" (a protest song against financial capitalism and globalization) just to play an hour-long acoustic set one hour later directly in front of the respective venue. By staging these performances of artistic protest he aimed to reveal and accus= e a corrupt and fascist music industry which only takes interest in gaining material profit at all cost instead of creating any kind of art, music or worthy culture. Following Nouve's last solo album "DEPRESSIVE POP", which got highly critically acclaimed in the german underground scene in 2012, February 2016 will see the resurrection of the band-project THE NOUVE and the release of a brand new album ironically entitled "GREATEST HITS" - a collection of 11 indie-rock anthems, produced in audiophile analogue sound and full of the sophisticated but warm-hearted attitude and cynism in lyrics and sound that Nouve's work has become famous for. The album runs through the full spectrum of modern rock music, swinging from high energetic punk rock ("Great Expectations", "Careful What You Wish For") to contemporary underground ("These Sisters"), sophisticated Indie-Pop ("The Promise", "Still Untrue") = and finally political anthems ("Swan Song", "The Thrill Inside") and the earworm "What We All Want". Nouve's songwriting perfectly explores the boundaries of post-modern rock music and constantly switches skillful between ironisation and re-definition of the respective genres. Technically the release took enormous profit from the mixing skills of Johna Agnello and the mastering by Scott Hull of Masterdisk, both legends with too many merits in their careers to mention. The complete analogue soundscape intensifies the substance of this artistic masterpiece and invokes the remembrance of the early works of artists such as New Order, The Cure, Nick Cave or The Sisters Of Mercy. The forerunner "What We All Want" will be available to download on any comm= on platform and via robertnouve.com as from January 21. The album "Greatest Hits" will be released on February 19.
